Offshore Wind Energy Projects

Presentations are available online from a March 25-26, 2010, TRB sponsored workshop on Offshore Wind Energy Projects. The workshop focused on hazards associated with offshore wind facilities, and on design and operational options for turbines, blades, towers, sub-structures, foundations, and electrical connections to the grid. The workshop highlighted processes and procedures that can be used within the Mineral Management Service’s regulatory regime to minimize risk to safety and the environment, protect the interests of other users of the outer continental shelf, and minimize disruptions to maritime transportation operations and to the supply of electricity.
