Webinar presenters and presentation outline:
1.
Shobna Varma, StarIsis Corporation
An Executive Summary of 'Beyond the Short-Term: Transportation Asset Management for Long-term Sustainability, Accountability, and Performance'
The presentation will explore the use of strategic planning, organizational theory, change management, and organizational communication to shift an agency from a short-term, worst-first approach to a long-term, sustainable, and accountable asset management approach.
2. Kathryn Zimmerman, Applied Pavement Technology, Inc.
Building a Sustainable Asset Management Program
Attendees will learn how local transportation agencies in Australia develop long-term financial plans that summarize anticipated revenues, asset renewal needs, and planned expenditures. Indicators that are developed in these plans may help transportation agencies determine the extent to which their funding and investments are sufficient to be sustainable.
3. Gordon Proctor, Gordon Proctor & Associates
Metrics for Asset Sustainability
Attendees will learn how other nations use transportation asset sustainability metrics and indices to help determine if investments are adequate. Asset condition data, long-range forecasts, and budget estimates from four states will be explored to determine if they could produce sustainability metrics. The presenter will also discuss the use of performance management principles to address these metrics.
4.
Deanna Belden, Minnesota Department of Transportation
Performance Management at the Minnesota Department of Transportation
The presentation will explore how Minnesota is developing historically set performance targets based on a reasonably achievable funding scenario policy.
