Map of SHRP 2 Activities: September 2012

TRB’s second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2) has released an update map that highlights the 30 states that are participating in some 75 SHRP 2 activities. The varied activities include the naturalistic driving study, pilot tests, field tests, and demonstration projects.

TRB Webinar: Greenhouse Gas Reduction and Sustainable Construction Strategies for Airports
October 5, 2012
TRB will conduct a webinar on October 10, 2012, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM ET that will feature research conducted by TRB’s Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and implementing sustainable airport construction practices. There is no fee to register for this webinar and participants must register in advance. Accredited Airport Executives (A.A.E.) who attend this webinar may report 1.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). The American Institute of Certified Planners has approved this webinar for 1.5 Certification Maintenance Credits.

TRB Webinar: Current Transportation Issues in Indian Country

TRB will conduct a webinar on October 11, 2012, from 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. ET that will explore how new highway legislation, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21), impacts transportation within the tribal lands of Native Americans. Participants must register in advance of the webinar, and there is no fee to attend this session. Persons who register and attend the webinar using their individual email address will be emailed a Continuing Legal Education certificate of attendance upon completion of the webinar.

TRB Webinar: Performance Measures for Public Involvement

TRB will conduct a webinar on October 16, 2012, from 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. ET that will describe public involvement performance measurements and metrics, and highlight a software tool that may be helpful to capture public sentiment about their involvement. Participants must register in advance of the webinar, and there is a fee for non-TRB Sponsor employees. A certificate for 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDH) will be provided to attendees who register and attend the webinar as an individual. This webinar is approved by the American Institute of Certified Planners for 1.5 Certification Maintenance Credits.

TRB is sponsoring the 12th National Light Rail Conference, Sustaining the Metropolis: LRT and Streetcars for Super Cities on November 11-13, 2012, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The conference will focus on planning and design of light rail transit and streetcars. The conference is designed to add to the body of knowledge and real-world experiences with modern light rail transit and streetcar applications in order to improve new systems being planned, as well as those already in operation.

First Annual International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo*

The conference is designed to provide a forum for exchange of the latest advances on connected vehicles and to examine the potential policy and economic impacts of these advances.

Data Analysis Working Group Forum on Pavement Performance Data Analysis

TRB’s Data Analysis Working Group (DAWG) will conduct a full-day forum on pavement performance data analysis, on Saturday, January 12, 2013, in Washington, D.C. The forum will be held immediately prior to the TRB 92nd Annual Meeting, January 13-17, 2013. All attendees of the Annual Meeting who are interested in the analysis of pavement performance data are welcome to attend without charge. Additional information on the forum, the call for abstracts, and information for individuals interested in attending or presenting at the meeting are available in the forum announcement. There is no deadline for receipt of abstracts, but you risk being too late if the agenda fills before you send in your abstract.

RFP: Implementing Transportation Data Program Self-Assessment

TRB’s National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) has issued a request for proposals to test the feasibility of the Data Program Self-Assessment process and to produce a guidebook for transportation agencies to implement data self-assessment methods. Proposals are due December 6, 2012.
