2013 TRB 92nd Annual Meeting: Superstorm Sandy and Extreme Weather Events to be Addressed

“Superstorm Sandy: Transportation Challenges and Research Opportunities in the Aftermath of a Major Disaster” will be the topic of a special session as part of the 2013 TRB 92nd Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The session will take place on Sunday, January 13th, 2013, from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Further details on the session will be made available in the coming weeks.

TRB Webinar: Airport Governance and Ownership

TRB will conduct a webinar on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, from 12:00 PM ET to 1:30 PM ET that will feature research conducted by TRB’s Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) on approaches to airport privatization, airport ownership and governance, and state-specific airport legislation to help airports operate in an efficient, competitive, and financially viable way. There is no fee to register for this webinar, participants must register in advance, and 1.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for Accredited Airport Executives (A.A.E.) who attend this webinar. The American Institute of Certified Planners has approved this webinar for 1.5 Certification Maintenance Credits.

TRB will conduct a webinar on Thursday, December 6, 2012, from 2:00 PM ET to 3:30 PM ET that will feature research conducted by TRB’s Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) about various aspects of terminal planning and design, with an emphasis on wayfinding and airport curbside and terminal area roadway operations. There is no fee to register for this webinar, participants must register in advance, and 1.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for Accredited Airport Executives (A.A.E.) who attend this webinar. This webinar is approved by the American Institute of Certified Planners for 1.5 certification maintenance credits.

TRB Webinar: A Model for Identifying and Evaluating the Historic Significance of Post-World War II Housing

TRB will conduct a webinar on December 18, 2012, from 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. ET that will explore TRB’s National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 723, which provides transportation officials and historic preservation professionals with guidance for identifying and evaluating the historic significance of post-World War II residences. Participants must register in advance of the webinar, and there is a fee for non-TRB Sponsor employees. A certificate for 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDH) will be provided to Professional Engineers (PEs) who register and attend the webinar as an individual. This webinar is pending approval for 1.5 Certification Maintenance Credits from the American Institute of Certified Planners.

RFP: Evaluating the Airport Emergency Response Operations Simulation (AEROS) Tool

The Airport Cooperative Research Program has issued a request for proposals to assess the overall usefulness of the Airport Emergency Response Operations Simulation tool and its scenarios, and provide recommendations, as applicable, to ensure its effectiveness as a training tool for the airport industry. Proposals are due December 21, 2012.

The Urban Congestion Report (UCR): July-September 2012

The U.S. Federal Highway Administration has released its quarterly report that is designed to characterize emerging traffic congestion and reliability trends at the national and city levels. The UCR utilizes archived traffic operations data gathered from state departments of transportation and a private traffic information company. The UCR is currently using data from 23 urban areas in the United States.
