TRB Webinar: Climate Change, Impacts on U.S. Transportation, and Adaptation Strategies

On March 28, 2008, TRB conducted a web-seminar or “webinar” that explored the potential impacts of climate change on transportation through two major studies released by TRB and by the U.S. Department of Transportation. For more details, view a summary of this webinar. Email Reggie Gillum at RGillum@nas.edu to receive a link to the recording of this session.

There is no fee for employees of TRB sponsors to receive this recording.
Others must pay $89.00 to receive a link to view this recorded session.

TRB’s study, Potential Impacts of Climate Change on U.S. Transportation (Special Report 290), produced jointly with the National Academies’ Division on Earth and Life Studies, examines relevant climate change impacts on transportation and adaptation options.  The report also offers recommendations for both research and actions that can be taken to prepare for climate change.  The U.S. DOT study, Impacts of Climate Change and Variability on Transportation Systems and Infrastructure: Gulf Coast Study, Phase I, produced in collaboration with the U.S. Geological Survey, is a case study of the central Gulf Coast.  The report explores the risks and implications to transportation from rising sea levels, temperature increases, precipitation changes, and increasing storm intensity.
