Chris Hendrickson honored with CUTC-HNTB Lifetime Achievement Award for Transportation Education and Research
Congratulations to TRB Division Committee chair Chris Hendrickson! On Saturday, January 11, Dr. Hendrickson received the Council of University Transportation Centers’s CUTC-HNTB Lifetime Achievement Award for Transportation Education and Research. He is recognized for decades of research and professional leadership as well as his unparalleled impact on the field of transportation through nurturing generations of transportation leaders worldwide. Hendrickson is the Hamerschlag University Professor Emeritus, Director of the Traffic 21 Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, member of the
National Academy of Engineering, and Editor-in-Chief of the
ASCE Journal of Transportation Engineering.
As chair of the
TRB Division Committee, Hendrickson is also an ex officio member of the larger National Academies'
NRC Governing Board. The TRB Division Committee ensures that National Research Council (NRC) procedures and policies are faithfully employed in TRB study and project committee appointments and report reviews. He began his work with TRB as part of a task force in 1979 and has been active on various committees, task forces, and councils within TRB over the past four decades.
