En Route Automation Modernization Outages at Federal Aviation Administration
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of the Inspector General has released a report that assesses the causes of En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) outages and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s actions to address them. The ERAM system is used to manage more than three million aircraft each month. Because of ERAM’s importance to air traffic management, system outages can significantly impact airport operations.
