TRB Volunteer Profile: Roger Olson
Roger Olson, retired Research Operations Engineer at the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), is a featured volunteer in the
TR News. While at MnDOT, Mr. Olson focused on asphalt technology, pavement
rehabilitation, pavement maintenance, and pavement preservation. He conducted studies including the implementation
of Superpave, low-temperature cracking,
reflective cracking, and waste-product utilization. Mr. Olson was actively involved in MnDOT's partnerships with other agencies, private-sector organizations, and
academia, including helping to initiate the Midwest Pavement Preservation Partnership.
At TRB, Mr. Olson is an emeritus member of the Standing Committees on Pavement Maintenance and General and Emerging Pavement Design, and has served as a member of numerous other TRB Committees and NCHRP panels.
The TR News is a bimonthly publication of TRB that features articles on innovative and timely research and development activities in all modes of transportation.
