TRB Volunteer Profile: Anne Goodchild
Anne Goodchild, founder and director of Supply Chain Transportation and Logistics Center, home of the Urban Freight Lab, is a featured volunteer in the
TR News. In this role, Dr. Goodchild investigates cost-effective, high-impact solutions for businesses delivering goods in urban settings and cities trying to manage limited curb and parking spaces. The Urban Freight Lab is housed within the University of Washington, where Dr. Goodchild leads academic and research efforts in supply chains, logistics, and freight transportation.
Additionally, Dr. Goodchild is a professor in the University of Washington's civil and environmental engineering department. She is an expert in urban freight, international borders, and port operations. Her research focuses on the intersection between supply chain management and freight transportation to better manage the deilivery of goods and services.
At TRB, Dr. Goodchild chaired the Freight Group. She has previously served on several National Cooperative Freight Research Program project panels, the Second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP2) expert task groups, and policy study committees. She has served in leadership positions with the Freight Transportation Planning and Logistics Committee, the Freight Data Committee, the International Trade and Transportation Committee, the Intermodal Freight Terminal Design and Operations Committee, and was the former chair of the Intermodal Freight Transport Committee.
