Featured Centennial Paper - Transportation and Economic Development Committee: Scope, Accomplishments, and Future Directions
The Standing Technical Committee on Transportation and Economic Development, created in 2001, is concerned with the macroeconomic, microeconomic, spatial, and distributional effects of transportation investments, as measured by changes in economic performance, competitiveness, and efficiency. It is specifically interested in the identification and measurement of causal linkages between transportation investment and measurable improvement or deterioration in the level or type of economic development. The Committee envisions efficient, effective, and equitable transportation systems that promote competitive advantage, economic sustainability, and resiliency. To learn the whole story, check out the Committee's Centennial Paper.
As part of TRB's Centennial Celebration, the Technical Activities Council invited all standing committees to submit a Centennial Paper. The Centennial Papers showcase TRB’s standing committees’ past accomplishments and contributions to transportation, demonstrate the committee’s current relevancy and activities, and consider the committee’s role in meeting future challenges and opportunities.
