Quantifying the Economic and Other Benefits of Enabling Priority Bus Egress from Bus Stops
The New Zealand Transport Agency has released a report that quantifies the results of busses having priority when exiting bus stops to merge into general traffic lanes. Currently in New Zealand, busses do not have priority over other road users in general traffic lanes. However, when busses reenter traffic, any delay may significantly impact travel time reliability, schedule adherence, and the overall efficiency of network operations.
