Plan to attend the TRB Annual Meeting

The TRB Annual Meeting 86th Annual Meeting is an information-packed program that will attract approximately 10,000 transportation professionals from around the world to Washington, D.C., January 21–25, 2007 at the Marriott Wardman Park, Omni Shoreham, and Hilton Washington Hotels. The program covers all transportation modes, with more than 2,600 presentations in 500 sessions addressing topics of interest to all attendees—policy makers, administrators, practitioners, researchers, and representatives of government, industry, and academic institutions. The spotlight theme for 2007 is "Transportation Institutions, Finance and Workforce: Meeting the Needs of the 21st Century".

Complimentary Annual Meeting registration will be granted to members of the media including freelance writers. General and media registration will begin in late September. To be added to TRB’s media list and to ensure your eligibility to receive media credentials at the Annual Meeting, please send your full contact information to Russell Houston at RHouston@NAS.edu.

All media representatives registered in advance will receive a series of advisories highlighting many of the timely topics and critical issues that will be discussed during the meeting. Registering early for the Annual Meeting also gains you access to the Interactive Preliminary Program when it is activated on the website in November. To plan your personalized itinerary the Interactive Preliminary Program has full session and individual presentation information including room locations, which is searchable by session title, paper title, keywords, author, and subject.

The 2007 Announcement that contains general workshop, meeting registration, and hotel reservation information will be available by the end of September.

Media registrants will have access to all TRB Annual Meeting sessions as well as to the exhibit floor. In addition, each media registrant will receive one complimentary copy of the CD ROM Compendium of Papers for the 86th Annual Meeting. Seating at the back of the room (without food) during the Chairman's Luncheon is available for media registrants. A separately purchased ticket is required for the luncheon and table seating. The Annual Meeting will have news rooms in each of the meeting's three hotels:

  • Marriott Wardman Park, 2660 Woodley Road, NW
  • Omni Shoreham, 2500 Calvert Street, NW
  • Hilton Washington Hotel and Towers, 1919 Connecticut Avenue, NW

All news rooms’ hours will be:
Sunday, January 21 -
Tuesday, January 23
7:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, January 24 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Thursday, January 25 7:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Only TRB-credentialed media and their guests will be allowed in the news rooms.

Each news room will include media-restricted work and interview space; phones with local, 800 number, and long-distance credit card access; and TRB Annual Meeting press information. Media registrants wishing to access the Internet while in any of the news rooms will need their own laptop computer compatible with the hotel’s Wi-Fi system. Fees associated with accessing the Internet via Wi-Fi are the responsibility of the media registrant. For Wi-Fi availability, compatibility, and pricing information, contact the appropriate hotel. News rooms will not be secure; media registrants are responsible for securing their personal belongings while at the Annual Meeting.

Media representatives who have registered for past TRB Annual Meetings and who are a part of the TRB media database will be recognized as credentialed media when registering for the meeting. Individuals who are not recognized as media should e-mail RHouston@NAS.edu to have their name added to the media database to receive complimentary registration. The process of processing media credential requests and adding them to the media database takes approximately 10 days. All members of the media must be prepared to show appropriate credentials or a current business card when picking up registration materials onsite. Media registration materials will be available at the TRB Annual Meeting registration desks at all three hotels.
