TRB Volunteer Profile: Mary Ellen Eagan
In a new feature for the TRB E-Newsletter, TRB will be highlighting volunteers who have made notable contributions to the organization as well as the transportation industry. This first profile highlights Mary Ellen Eagan, president, CEO, and Chairman on the Board of Directors at Harris Miller Miller & Hanson Inc. (HMMH) in Burlington, Massachusetts. Mary Ellen Eagan leads the consulting firm that provides services in environmental noise and vibration control, air quality analysis, and airport and airspace planning. Under her leadership, HMMH has expanded its range of services and, in 2014, became a woman-owned business.
At TRB, Ms. Eagan is ending her successful term as chair of the Aviation Group where she helped establish the Young Members Council in Aviation. While chair of the Environmental Impacts of Aviation committee, she also led the update of a TRB circular,
Critical Issues in Aviation and the Environment, and helped organize conferences to address critical emerging issues. Additionally, Ms. Eagan has served on the Airport Cooperative Research Program’s project panel on Climate Change Adaptation Planning: Risk Assessment for Airports.
Ms. Eagan is a featured volunteer in the July-August 2016 edition of the
TR News, an issue she also helped to assemble focusing on future aviation research needs. The TR News is a bimonthly publication of TRB that features articles on innovative and timely research and development activities in all modes of transportation.
