TRB Volunteer Profile: Barbara A. Ivanov
Barbara A. Ivanov, director of the Urban Freight Lab at the University of Washington and the Chief Operating Officer of the Supply Chain, Transportation, and Logistics Center, is a featured volunteer in the
TR News. In her latter role, Ms. Ivanov integrates education, research, and consultation with key players to improve public freight systems for business sectors, supply chains, and surrounding communities.
At the Urban Freight Lab, she facilitates research projects, maintains its financial stability, delivers data-based results, manages real-world pilot tests, and communicates research outcomes. Her expertise lies in developing freight performance metrics, performance-tracking system capabilities, and economic impact analyses, and has coordinated state input into the National Freight Network and the National Freight Strategic Plan.
At TRB, Ms. Ivanov has served as freight group chair, where she guided the work of 11 freight systems committees. Currently, she serves as a member on the Standing Committee for Urban Freight Transportation, and is a member of NCHRP and NCFRP panels addressing various freight-related issues.
