Coordinated Traffic Incident and Congestion Management (TIM-CM): Mitigating Regional Impacts of Major Traffic Incidents in the Seattle I-5 Corridor
The Washington State Department of Transportation has released a report that identifies how regional traffic incident management (TIM) can incorporate congestion management (CM) processes. TIM refers to the strategy of detecting, responding to, and clearing traffic incidents so that traffic flow can be restored quickly and safely. CM refers to the managing of incident-generated congestion and mitigating regional impacts after the actual incident has been cleared.
