Proposed Performance-Prediction Equations and Threshold Triggers for Thin-Overlay Treatments Using the Long-Term Pavement Performance Database
The U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has released a report that develops guidelines, parameters, and performance-prediction equations to select the most appropriate time to apply a thin-overlay treatment based on the condition of the existing pavement. The application of a thin overlay may extend the life of a pavement by eight to ten years, although this range varies depending on traffic, environmental conditions, quality of the materials, and workmanship.
