Essential Air Service (EAS)
The U.S. Congressional Research Service has released a report that provides an update about the Essential Air Service (EAS) program. The EAS was established to ensure that small communities served by certificated air carriers before deregulation would continue to receive scheduled passenger service. The EAS program is administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation, which enforces the eligibility requirements and determines the level of service required at eligible communities.
