Passenger Facility Charge Program Requirements
The Office of the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Transportation has released a report that reviews the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s oversight of the Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) program. The PFC program, administered by the FAA, provides local funds for airport capital improvement projects to increase competition between air carriers. To be eligible for PFC funding, projects must:
- Preserve or enhance the safety, security, or capacity of the national air transportation system
- Reduce or mitigate airport noise, or
- Promote competition between or among air carriers.
