TRB Volunteer Profile: Veronica M. Murphy
Veronica M. Murphy, with the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), is a featured volunteer in the
TR News. Veronica spent most of her fifteen years at NJDOT working in project development and project management. She is a subject matter expert on Community Impact Assessment and Public Involvement, and worked on the development of the study areas community profile and determining an appropriate outreach program for these projects.
Ms. Murphy was part of a team that was tasked with facilitating the safe passage of pedestrians across a busy highway in Union County, New Jersey. The team successfully implemented a shuttle service for the corridor. Veronica also lead the outreach efforts for the Pulaski Skyway rehabilitation project.
In 2005, Ms. Murphy was the project manager for the Northeast Community Impact Assessment Workshop, which was a collaboration between NJ DOT, the Federal Highway Administration, and TRB.
At TRB, Ms. Murphy is a member of the Public Involvement in Transportation and Environmental Justice in Transportation committees. She also serves on two NCHRP panels.
The TR News is a bimonthly publication of TRB that features articles on innovative and timely research and development activities in all modes of transportation.
