Assessment of the Economic Impacts of Landslides and Other Climate-Driven Events
The Transport Research Laboratory in the United Kingdom has released a report that determines the economic impacts of landslide events. The extent of such impacts can be considerable, particularly in rural areas where the road network is sparse and offers few route alternatives. This report examines direct economic impacts, which include the costs of clean-up and repair/replacement of lost/damaged infrastructure, as well as indirect economic impacts, which are the effects on businesses that depend upon the transport network for incoming and/or outgoing goods.
