TRB Webinars are designed to share and discuss ongoing work associated with TRB Standing Technical Committees and their respective topic areas, as well as research from TRB’s Cooperative Research Programs.

Please select the webinar that you would like to attend from the list below and register. All participants must register at least 24 hours in advance of the webinar.

TRB's webinars are produced with funding received from TRB Sponsors and TRB Cobalt and Titanium Global Affiliates. Accordingly, employees of TRB Sponsors and TRB Cobalt and Titanium Global Affiliates may attend the session without a fee. TRB Sponsors include State Sponsors from the highway and transportation departments of the 50 states and D.C., and select Federal and Non-Profit Sponsors.

As the state of practice for travel surveys rapidly evolves and response rates continue to decline, researchers must often consider multimethod sampling to obtain responses from hard-to-reach populations. TRB will host a webinar on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM Eastern that will discuss the use of multimethod sample for travel surveys, including recruitment via community outreach, panels, and regional organizations or agencies to better reach populations of importance and increase representation. Presenters will examine the decision-making process during the initial sample design phase and considerations for weighting data from multiple sources.

When technology solutions are not accessible to people with disabilities, the solutions are exclusionary. Public and private industries must work with people with disabilities when planning, designing, and implementing smart mobility solutions to make the products and services as accessible as possible. TRB will host a webinar on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM Eastern that will present lived experiences highlighting accessibility issues with modern transportation technology, along with examples of how policies can address these issues. Presenters will explore the barriers and opportunities created by transportation technologies and their effect on various communities.

Designing and conducting choice experiments requires several steps: choosing the design type, the number of choice situations, and the sample size. TRB will host a webinar on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM Eastern that will provide guidance in selecting suitable design properties and will address common design misconceptions. Presenters will discuss advanced choice experiment designs, where they can be employed, and how the implementation can be operationalized. Presenters will also share hands-on experiences from industry and academia to avoid common pitfalls.

Transportation asset management plans (TAMPs) describe how agencies manage and invest in infrastructure assets from construction through replacement or decommissioning. There are many practical barriers that keep agencies from effectively incorporating maintenance actions and cost into their TAMPs. NCHRP Research Report 1076: A Guide to Incorporating Maintenance Costs into a Transportation Asset Management Plan provides a six-part framework designed to tackle the biggest challenges in projecting future maintenance costs. TRB will host a webinar on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM Eastern that will provide an overview of the framework and include practical examples from state highway agencies.
