Since 2003, the Transportation Research Board (TRB) and National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) have been working on a number of informal initiatives to increase the ease and speed with which state lawmakers and their staffs can find transportation-related research information. As part of this continuing effort, TRB has established a series of websites that aggregate transportation research-related information grouped by the topics listed below. Information provided on the sites is updated as it becomes available or is identified by TRB.

TRB is one of six major divisions of the National Research Council-a private, nonprofit institution jointly administered by the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the Institute of Medicine. TRB's mission is to promote innovation and progress in transportation through research. TRB's snapshot sites are made available to help facilitate the sharing of information on transportation practices and policy by researchers and practitioners, and to disseminate research results broadly and encourage their implementation.

Information under each topic covers recent TRB and non-TRB items. This "snapshot" site is in beta format. Your comments and suggestions are appreciated and should be sent to Russell Houston. Items listed under each topic have been or will be highlighted in the TRB E-Newsletter, which was first published in June 2002. If you are looking for older TRB publications, please use TRB's Publication Index. To locate information on TRB committees and panels, see the TRB searchable directory.
