TRB Straight to Recording for All: Green Infrastructure in the Transportation Sector
TRB recorded presentations in May 2015 that provide an overview of legislation encouraging Green Infrastructure (GI) in the transportation sector, potential legislation mandating such efforts, similar regulatory efforts, and other GI programs and incentives. Speakers also focus on successful efforts to incorporate GI into planning efforts and into existing projects.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has made employing GI a priority, but there is significant uncertainty surrounding the concept. Transportation organizations have historically not considered GI in their planning due to confusion over the eligibility of such expenditures for reimbursement from the Highway Trust Fund.
