TRB Minority Student Fellows - Hispanic Heritage Month
"As a proud member of the 2019-2020 cohort, I can attest to the incredible journey this program offers to minority students pursuing careers in transportation and related fields," says Benjamin Arras.
"During this time, I was pursuing my doctoral degree in civil engineering at the University of Texas at El Paso while working at the Center for Transportation Infrastructure Systems, and being part of a Minority-Serving Institution added a unique dimension to my experience. One of the most valuable skills I gained through the TRB Fellowship was the ability to speak confidently and effectively in public. The program provided numerous opportunities to present my research and ideas, allowing me to sharpen my communication skills. These newfound abilities have proven invaluable in academia and beyond."
