Airport operators are working hard through the busy holiday season to keep their customers moving efficiently and happily. But there are always more long-term concerns not far in the background. TRB's Airport Cooperative Research Program released two reports this past week along those lines.

ACRP Research Report 270: Carbon Removal at Airports aims to define the terms related to carbon dioxide removal as airports are committing to achieve net-zero carbon emissions, some by as soon as 2050. Find more research on "energy efficiency" using a new search term in TRID.

ACRP Research Report 272: Incorporating Shock Events into Aviation Demand Forecasting and Airport Planning provides a methodology to aid airports in identifying and describing relevant shock events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and other events that have exerted profound impacts on the aviation industry.
