Review of FAA’s STARS Implementation
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)’s Office of the Inspector General has released a report that provides an update of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s progress in modernizing and standardizing the automated systems for managing air traffic. This system, called the Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS), is being implemented at large terminal radar approach control air traffic facilities and may aid in the goals of the Next Generation Air Transportation System.
