Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) Analytical User’s Manual 1975-2017
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has released a manual that provides documentation on the historical coding practices of the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) from 1975 to 2017. This manual aims to enable the users to become familiar with the FARS data system. FARS is used to identify highway safety problem areas, provide a basis for regulatory and consumer information initiatives, and form the basis for cost and benefit analyses of highway safety initiatives.
