Position Available: Managing Director of the National Transportation Library
The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology (OST-R)
is seeking a Supervisory Librarian (Managing Director of the National Transportation Library).
This position is part of OST-R’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
The NTL, established
under the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century, is responsible for collaborating
with federal and other transportation libraries to identify, collect, preserve, and
maintain access to transportation data and information, as well as making this
information available to researchers, decision-makers, and the general public.
With the implementation of the U.S. DOT Public Access Plan, an increased focus on data,
and migration to the next generation of digital library tools and standards, the NTL
requires a professional equipped to guide the program through the issues and challenges
of an evolving information landscape, which involves trusted repository certification,
data curation, digital reference, stakeholder engagement, and innovative collaborations.
