Video Demonstrations of Three SHRP 2 Products Now Available

Step-by-step demonstrations narrated by the principal investigators of three SHRP 2 products that were featured in the SHRP 2 booth at the 91st TRB Annual Meeting are now available on the SHRP 2 website:

•    Geotechnical Solutions for Transportation Infrastructure: a web tool that provides guidance for soil improvement, rapid embankment construction, and stabilization of the pavement working platform
•    Transportation Project Impact Case Studies (T-PICS): a national database of case studies that can be used to assess the pre- and post-construction economic development and related effects of various kinds of transportation projects
•    My Road Trip Advisor: a tool that predicts arrival times for travelers based on travel time reliability information

Geotechnical Solutions for Transportation Infrastructure
Geotechnical Solutions for Transportation Infrastructure is a web-based selection system that amasses in one place information about 46 technologies that transportation agencies can use to increase soil strength, reduce deformations, accelerate construction, and increase resistance to liquefaction.

Transportation Project Impact Case Studies
Transportation Project Impact Case Studies (T-PICS) is a web tool that provides access to a nationwide database of 100 case studies that describe the pre- and post-construction economic development effects of 11 kinds of transportation projects. With T-PICS users can conduct “before and after” assessments of a range of projects, compare case studies developed for each project to other similar projects in the database, and view a wide range of information about each of the case studies. The tool can also be used to estimate a range of possible economic impacts that might result from constructing a project. T-PICS is available at www.transportationforcommunities.com/t-pics.

My Road Trip Advisor
My Road Trip Advisor is an application that provides travelers with actionable travel time reliability information, which they can use to avoid nonrecurring congestion. The application provides quantified information on travel time reliability and delays due to traffic incidents, work zones, and inclement weather and estimates arrival times that account for these factors. The test corridor used in this project was commute-intensive, congestion-prone I-66 in Northern Virginia. My Road Trip Advisor can deliver forecast notifications automatically by e-mail, text message, and voicemail.
