TRB Webinar: Field Performance of Corrugated Pipes Manufactured with Recycled Materials

TRB conducted a webinar on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM ET that featured research from the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP)’s Research Report 870: Field Performance of Corrugated Pipe Manufactured with Recycled Polyethylene Content.

This webinar discussed how to evaluate the field performance of corrugated high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes manufactured with post-consumer and post-industrial recycled materials. The presenter discussed the Un-Notched Constant Ligament Stress Test, a new test method that provides the basis for a service life prediction model. This model may more accurately determine the service life of corrugated HDPE pipes as well as ensure that the pipes meet a specified service life.

The slides are available. Contact Reggie Gillum at RGillum@nas.edu for a copy of the recorded webinar.

Webinar Presenters

  • Michael Pluimer, University of Minnesota at Duluth

Moderated by:  Dan Currence, Plastics Pipe Institute

Professional Development Hour Information

A certificate for 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) will be provided to Professional Engineers (PEs) who register and attend the webinar as an individual. For groups, only the person that registers and attends the session will receive a PDH certificate. Certificates of Completion will be issued only to individuals who register for and attend the entire webinar session.
