TRB Webinar: Specifying and Measuring Asphalt Density to Ensure Pavement Performance
TRB conducted a webinar on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM ET that featured research from the
National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP)’s
Research Report 856: Specifying and Measuring Asphalt Pavement Density to Ensure Pavement Performance.
The in-place density of asphalt mixtures is the single most important property of the asphalt mixture in the pavement. This webinar examined the current agency practices used to measure and specify the in-place density of asphalt pavements. The presenter explored guiding principles to select measurement methods and requirements for in-place density. He also also identified the specific knowledge gaps in order to establish more comprehensive density standards.
