TRANSIT COOPERATIVE RESEARCH PROGRAM
Sponsored by the Federal Transit Administration, the Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) serves as one of the principal means by which the public transportation industry can develop innovative near-term solutions to meet demands placed on it. The TCRP has an established reputation for providing useful reports and other tools to help public transportation practitioners solve problems and inform decision makers.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
TCRP's Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Response
Following the direction of our parent organization the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, the majority of our staff are working from home through at least June 2021. Business is continuing as usual, and we have worked out procedures to replace most of our paper-based correspondence with electronic distribution. Pending RFPs have been extended for four weeks and will be submitted electronically. There may be a few delays as we all get familiar with the new working environment, and your patience is appreciated. Our staff thanks all of our sponsors, volunteers, and contractors who make this program work.
For more information, please contact Chris Hedges (Director, CRP) at chedges@nas.edu.
Research problem statements are now being accepted for Transit Cooperative Research Program's (TCRP) Fiscal Year 2022. To submit a problem statement, first review and follow the format in this outline. Problem statements may be submitted electronically. Previously submitted proposals may be resubmitted. The deadline for consideration is June 18, 2021.
TCRP has released its annual report, which provides background and an overview of the program, status of each of TCRP’s projects, and a summary of some of the program's accomplishments for the year.
The Transit Innovations Deserving Exploratory Analysis (IDEA) program proposal deadline is May 1, 2021. You are invited to review the program guidance and submit Transit IDEA proposals for consideration here.
In celebration of 30 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the TCRP has curated a list of resources that address public transportation for older people and people with disabilities, specialized transit, service configuration, service delivery, compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other areas relevant to the ADA and public transportation.

PUBLICATIONS SERIES
Research Reports are the main products of research projects and are often written as guidebooks or manuals. Supplemental project material—such as appendixes, which describe technical details, information-gathering activities, or survey instruments; glossaries; and bibliographies—is posted on the Research Report web page.
Syntheses are compendiums of the best knowledge available on measures found to be successful in resolving specific problems. To develop Syntheses in a comprehensive manner and to ensure inclusion of significant knowledge, available information assembled from numerous sources, including numerous transit agencies, is analyzed. Each Synthesis is an immediately useful document that records practices in use at the time of its preparation.
Legal Research Digests report on timely legal issues, compile case law, or recommend specific solutions to specific problems.
Web-Only Documents are fully searchable PDFs of contractor-prepared reports or supporting appendix materials. Web-Only Documents are linked to other related project products, as well as to the relevant project write-ups.
Research Results Digests are used to promote early awareness of project results in order to encourage implementation. Research Results Digests also summarize specific findings that emphasize how the research may be used. The contents are organized in terms of the problem and the solution to the problem, the findings, and the applications.
