National Roundabout Conference
Vail, Colorado
May 22-25, 2005
Online Registration is closed.
Organized under the auspices of the TRB and the Joint Subcommittee on Roundabouts, ANB20(4), this conference will provide a forum for the exchange of technical and administrative information concerning all aspects of roundabouts. The purpose of this conference is to fully inform a large audience about the science and application of roundabouts. This national conference on roundabouts is for all private and public interests. The use of roundabouts as an alternative to stop or signal-controlled intersections is swiftly advancing in the United States. Local governments and state highway agencies are rapidly moving forward to develop policies and procedures when managing roundabout decisions, design and operation. Issues regarding the deployment of roundabouts at the state and local levels will be presented. In addition to numerous papers from local and state agencies, papers from Europe and Canada will also be presented. There will be an introductory seminar on Sunday afternoon open to everyone who is registered for the conference.
The conference will begin with an evening reception on Sunday May 22. Opening session will be at 8:00 AM on Monday May 23. Generally, there will be two concurrent sessions during the conference on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday there will be an evening social event. The conference will end before noon on Wednesday May 25, 2005.

Vail is a beautiful resort community in the Rocky Mountains and is a valley of roundabouts. There are 4 roundabouts in Vail and 10 more nearby in Avon, all within easy reach of the conference site. Colorado has over 110 modern roundabouts, the majority of which are located on the local system. Extend your stay and visit many roundabout examples. The conference is taking advantage of the shoulder tourist season for this striking resort area to reduce prices to conference participants, while also holding the conference at a location with many roundabouts to visit. Weather could range from wet spring snow to warm, clear spring days.
