TRB conducted a webinar on February 7, 2013, from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. ET that explored the results of a National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Project, “
Sensitivity Evaluation of MEPDG Performance Prediction.” Contact Reggie Gillum at
RGillum@nas.edu for details to access a link to the recorded webinar.
The MEPDG provides methodologies for the analysis and performance prediction of different types of rigid and flexible pavements. The rigid pavement performance predicted by these methodologies depends on the values of input parameters that characterize pavement materials, layers, design features, and condition. However, these input parameter values are expected to differ to varying degrees and, therefore, the predicted performance may also vary to some degree depending on input parameter values. Aspects of pavement performance such as material properties, concrete stiffness and strength correlation, and traffic will be discussed during the webinar.
Webinar Presenter: Halil Ceylan, Iowa State University
Moderated by: Dulce Rufino Feldman, California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS)
This webinar on rigid pavement performance complements the TRB webinar held on July 25, 2012 on
Sensitivity Evaluation of the MEPDG for Flexible Pavements. This webinar was recorded and is available upon request.
Webinar Outline:
- Overview
- NCHRP Project 1-47 Study Objectives
- Sensitivity Analysis Concepts
- Design Inputs on Rigid Pavement Performance
- Global Sensitivity Analysis of MEPDG for Rigid Pavement Performance
- Summary and Conclusions for the NCHRP Project 1-47
- The final 30 minutes of the webinar is reserved for audience questions.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn the different inputs for rigid pavement design in the MEPDG.
- Understand the impacts of material inputs on rigid pavement performance prediction.
- Recognize the need for reliable traffic, climate data and pavement layer design features for rigid pavement performance prediction.
- Understand the rigid pavement input parameters that have the greatest and least impact on pavement performance prediction.
