TRB Webinar: Sensitivity Evaluation of the MEPDG for Flexible Pavements

TRB conducted a webinar on July 25, 2012, from 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. ET that explored flexible pavement performance prediction research undertaken as a part of a National Highway Cooperative Research Program (NCHRP) project. The Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG) Manual of Practice provides methodologies for the analysis and performance prediction of different types of flexible and rigid pavements. The performance predicted by these methodologies depends on the values of input parameters that characterize pavement materials, layers, design features, and condition. However, these input parameter values are expected to differ to varying degrees and, therefore, the predicted performance may also vary to some degree depending on the input parameter values. 

This webinar will explore the results of a study to evaluate the sensitivity of pavement performance predicted by the Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide to the values of the design inputs. Aspects such as material properties, master curves, and traffic will be discussed. The contractor’s final report is available online.
