Road construction professionals were invited to a TRB webinar on Monday, October 7, 2019, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM ET. The webinar provided an overview of practices used to achieve high quality subgrade and base material when using lower quality or recycled materials. Professionals used laboratory and field data to predict field performance of high-quality bases and subgrades. These same processes are used now to evaluate how low-quality and recycled materials can create high-quality bases and subgrades. The webinar addressed construction efficiency gains for existing lane reconstruction using FDR and CCPR, NDT testing and lab design, relating lab data to field data, and utilizing the PM device to compact and test a range of materials. Presenters also discussed financial savings and improved performance through reclamation technologies.
This webinar was organized by the TRB Standing Committees on Stabilization of Geomaterials and Recycled Materials and Geotechnical Instrumentation and Modeling.
