Evaluating Progress of the U.S. Climate Change Science Program:Methods and Preliminary Results
The National Academies’ Division on Earth and Life Studies (DELS) and Division on Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education (DBASSE) have released a report that evaluates the progress of the U.S. Climate Change Science Program. According to the committee that developed the report, the program has made good progress in documenting and understanding changes that are occurring on a global scale, but less progress has been made in the study of regional impacts, human vulnerabilities, and mitigation and adaptation options. The report also calls on the program to better communicate with decision makers at national and local levels. DELS and DBASSE, like TRB, are divisions of the National Academies, which include the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine, and National Research Council.
