America’s Marine Highway: Report to Congress
The U.S. Maritime Administration has released a report that describes its marine highway program, which is intended to expand the use of U.S. inland, Great Lakes Saint Lawrence Seaway System, intracoastal, and coastal waterways for the transportation of freight (loaded in containers and trailers) and passengers. The program is designed to help mitigate landside congestion, reduce greenhouse gas emissions per ton-mile of freight moved, and more.
