A featured article in the September-October 2012 issue of TR News reviews the largest-ever naturalistic driving study, which is being conducted at six sites by TRB’s second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2).

The high-technology program will support a comprehensive assessment of how driver behavior and performance interact with roadway, environmental, vehicular, and human factors and how these interactions affect collision risk. The information will support new and improved countermeasures to prevent traffic collisions and injuries.
