Design and Construction of Ultra Thin Overlays as an Alternative to Seal Coats
The Center for Transportation Studies at the University of Texas at Austin has released a report that determines the best mix type for use as an ultra thin overlay. The report also evaluates the volumetric-based criterion used to determine the optimum binder content and identifies the properties of the required tack coat. Ultra thin overlays have become a common alternative to seal coats due to their lack of noise and improved ride quality, as well as their reduced overall cost.
