Intelligent Transportation Systems and Vehicle–Highway Automation 2009

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2129 includes 17 papers that explore vehicle reidentification algorithms, privacy preservation in intelligent transportation systems and the vehicle–infrastructure integration initiative, advanced traveler information systems deployment, dynamic message sign deployment and traveler diversion behavior, real-time detection of hazardous traffic events on freeways, and an automatic traffic conflict detection system.

This issue of the TRR also examines the processing traffic data collected by remote sensing, advanced traffic information systems, travel time estimates from inductive loop and toll collection data, real-time estimation of urban street travel time using probe buses, guidelines for inspection and maintenance of intelligent transportation systems, emerging technologies for congestion reduction, video detection at signalized intersections, field performance of a regional WiMAX network, real-time traffic information and navigation, driver behavior and acceptance of infrastructure-to-vehicle communication systems, and traffic flow impacts of adaptive cruise control with on- and off-switching.
