Annual Meeting registration is required to secure a hotel reservation within the TRB block. At the time of registration, you will have the ability to make your hotel reservations. 2013 TRB 92nd Annual Meeting: AASHTO Executive Director, John Horsley, Chairman's Luncheon Featured Speaker

John Horsley, executive director of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), will be the featured speaker at the Wednesday, January 16, 2013, Chairman’s Luncheon at the TRB 92nd Annual Meeting, January 13-17, 2013, in Washington, D.C. The Chairman’s Luncheon is the premier event and the largest single gathering at the Annual Meeting, attended by leaders in the transportation field from the United States and abroad. Horsley, who will retire as AASHTO executive director in February, is also being honored with the W. N. Carey, Jr., Distinguished Service Award for his outstanding support of TRB and national transportation research programs. His luncheon speech will highlight the states' perspectives on trends and challenges for the U.S. transportation system in coming years.

TRB Webinar: Airport Terminal Planning and Design, A Focus on Wayfinding and Roadways

TRB will conduct a webinar on Thursday, December 6, 2012, from 2:00 PM ET to 3:30 PM ET that will feature research conducted by TRB’s Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) about various aspects of terminal planning and design, with an emphasis on wayfinding and airport curbside and terminal area roadway operations. There is no fee to register for this webinar, participants must register in advance, and 1.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for Accredited Airport Executives (A.A.E.) who attend this webinar. This webinar is approved by the American Institute of Certified Planners for 1.5 certification maintenance credits.

Research Pays Off: Chip Seals for Improved Pavement Preservation: North Carolina’s Approach

Despite the apparent benefits and widespread use of emulsion-based chip seals with emulsified asphalt binders and natural mineral aggregate chips, as a preservation treatment, some state departments of transportation (DOTs) have been reluctant to adopt the technology because of limited familiarity with chip seal practices. North Carolina DOT therefore sponsored a series of research projects at North Carolina State University (NCSU) to evaluate and improve the various aspects of chip seal design and construction.
