Information Technology, Geographic Information Systems, and Artificial Intelligence
TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2024 includes 14 papers that explore nontraditional traffic monitoring systems; automated identification of traffic patterns; stochastic short-term traffic flow forecasting; transportation asset management and visualization; data collection based on Global Positioning System; evaluating highway capacity investments using a geographic information systems-based tool; and visualizing and analyzing activities in an integrated space-time environment. This issue of the TRR also examines a geographic information system-based approach to identify hazardous roadway segments; wavelet-based pavement distress image edge detection; traffic signal timing using the fuzzy optimization approach; and the forecasting of short-term freeway volume. In addition, this TRR reviews the decision support system for predicting traffic diversion impact across transportation networks; selection and development of TransXML schemas; and forecasting short-term traffic flow.
Individual TRRs, which are published on an irregular basis throughout the year, consist of collections of peer-reviewed papers on specific transportation subject areas and modes. TRB's TRR Online service allows all visitors to identify papers of interest and review abstracts of those papers. Access to the full papers is available to service subscribers and employees of TRB sponsors. Papers may also be purchased on an individual basis.
Printed copies of TRR Journals may also be purchased on an annual subscription basis. Each year, TRB publishes approximately 45 volumes of the TRR Journal, containing more than 800 papers grouped by subject.
