Long-Term Bridge Performance
The Long-Term Bridge Performance (LTBP) program is a 20-year study by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) of in-service U.S. highway bridges to improve understanding of the causes and mechanisms of deterioration. The TRB LTBP Committee is conducting a policy study that advises the FHWA on the conduct of this program. This NRC-appointed committee is aided by expert task groups (ETGs).
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has operational responsibility for the LTBP program and maintains a resource web site for current and historical information.
The TRB LTPP Committee monitors the status and progress of the LTPP studies and provides technical advice and assistance to the FHWA concerning courses of action and the future direction of the studies. The advice and recommendations of the committee are transmitted to the FHWA and to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) in letter reports.
The Long Term Bridge Performance program review committee is a policy study that advises the Federal Highway Administration on the conduct of a 20-year study of in-service U.S. highway bridges to improve understanding of the causes and mechanisms of deterioration due to a variety of causes. This NRC appointed committee is aided by expert task groups (ETGs).
