Research on Improved Concrete Pavement
|
The Federal Highway Administration and the Innovative Pavement Research Foundation (IPRF), a concrete paving industry research consortium, jointly administer a 6-year program of concrete research, begun in 1999. A TRB committee was formed to provide guidance on the conduct of the program. The committee reviews and advises on the program's long-range work plan and component tasks, and conducts progress reviews, advising on course corrections, opportunities, and findings. To aid FHWA and IPRF in developing a multi-year program, the committee has developed its version of a general long-range research plan.
Fifteen research projects have been initiated in the program's first two years; their overall goals are reducing user delays and costs, improving performance, and fostering innovation.
