The Transportation Research Board held the Tenth SHRP 2 Safety Data Symposium on October 6, 2017, at the Keck Center of The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in Washington, DC.

The program is available online. The day included 5 sessions and 16 speakers. Session topics included the following:
- Crash analyses and safety performance measures
- Driver behavior and distraction
- Roadway design and traffic engineering
- Naturalistic data analysis tools and methods
- Big data, data modeling,and machine vision
- Implementation of results and countermeasures
- and beyond.
The Symposium exhibited research studies that have been performed utilizing the SHRP 2 Naturalistic Driving Study data and the SHRP 2 Roadway Information Database, known together as the SHRP 2 Safety Data. The Symposium was a forum for the exchange of ideas about uses and methods for the SHRP 2 Safety Data among researchers and practitioners. Symposium attendees were comprised of a diverse audience from academia, government, and industry who are well placed to shape and promote future research in transportation safety, big data, and beyond.
