2005 Northeastern Community Impact Assessment Workshop

The Northeast CIA Workshop will provide practitioners from the region, and throughout the country, an opportunity to discuss innovative Community Impact Assessment methodologies, practices and tools that will result in better planning and engineering. Practitioners will discuss:
- Ways to reinvest in our urban centers and older suburbs; where infrastructure and road networks already exist.
- Development along existing mass transit corridors.
- Techniques to reach and engage traditionally underserved populations and populations with limited English proficiency in the planning process.
- How to identify and mitigate secondary and indirect impacts.
- Planning Smart and Fair.
Consistent with Smart Growth principles, the Workshop will explore ways to enhance communities through creative re-utilization of existing space. A "Place Making" exercise will introduce Workshop participants to the "tools" and techniques used in creating "PLACES" – reflecting recognition of community values and consistent with Smart Growth.
