Federal Funding Support for Positive Train Control Implementation
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of the Inspector General has released a report that identifies railroads that received DOT funding for positive train control (PTC) projects. The Rail Safety Improvement Act of 2008 requires PTC systems to be implemented across a significant portion of the United States’ rail system. The U.S. DOT is in charge of overseeing PTC implementation and funding.
