TRB’s SHRP 2 Tuesdays Webinar: Local Methods for Modeling, Economic Evaluation, Justification and Use of the Value of Travel Time Reliability in Transportation Decision Making (L35)

As part of the SHRP2 Tuesdays Webinar Series, TRB conducted a webinar on September 9, 2014 that highlighted the process used to develop, justify, apply, and assess the use of travel time reliability in project evaluation and decision making. The objective of SHRP 2 Reliability Project L35 is to build support for investments in operations through pilot testing an economic value of travel time reliability in the modeling and business processes at a metropolitan planning organization (MPO) and a state department of transportation (DOT) in order to determine whether introducing reliability into the decision making process changes project priorities.

The first 60 minutes of the webinar is for presentations and the final 30 minutes is reserved for audience questions.


Learning Objectives
After completion of this SHRP2 Tuesday Webinar, attendees will be able to:

• Describe two different approaches to determining the economic value of reliability;
• Discuss how reliability can be incorporated into a number of different types of models and benefit-cost analysis; and
• Summarize key elements of business processes for planning and decision making that a MPO and state DOT use in evaluating project priorities including those with the potential to enhance reliability and improve transportation system management and operations.
