- Senior Program Officer. This position focuses on projects primarily in the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) and on the topics of materials science and pavement design, preservation, and maintenance, as well as potentially a wider variety of transportation topics.
- Senior Program Officer - This position will manage projects primarily in the Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) but may manage projects in other TRB Cooperative Research Programs as needed.
- Editor. This position edits text and graphics for publication, including articles, manuscripts, reports, websites, journals, magazines, and/or brochures.

Airport-related and Other Resources on "Forever Chemicals"
“Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances,” more commonly called PFASs or "forever chemicals," have been prominent in the news recently. They withstand high heat and are in countless consumer products, but stay in the environment for a long time. Equity in Transportation Panel
TRB Executive Director Victoria Sheehan will moderate a panel at the Latinos In Transit Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. on September 23. Join Victoria along with Circe Torruellas of Gannett Flemming, Reinaldo Germano of Foursquare ITP, Noah Berger of MeVA Transit, and Veronica Vanterpool of Federal Transit Authority. Panelists will provide examples from their work that demonstrate meaningful changes and possible steps forward to help us realize greater equity throughout U.S. transit systems. TRB is pleased to have an MOU with Latinos In Transit.

Apply for National Academies Mirzayan Fellowship
A cohort of graduate students and early-career professionals will gain hands-on experience with science and technology policy with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Apply by October 16 for the 12-week Mirzayan Fellowship held in spring 2024. Fellows connect with each other, policy experts, and weekly guest speakers, as well as National Academies staff and volunteers.

Certain self-driving cars actually cause more congestion, according to a recent article in TRB's journal, Transportation Research Record. The article is summarized in Study Finds.
A modification to a local bus route increased the number of accessible jobs from 135 to 6,400, according to another article in Transportation Research Record. In Tennessee, a three-step system for evaluating transit equity and proposing modifications to local bus services was developed, which can be replicated elsewhere.
